NYUAD: Women Riding in the Sand

It’s been a busy couple of weeks but thankfully Spring Break is starting next week and I can’t wait to finally get some rest and go back to Russia! Last weekend I got to go to a Student Production theatre performance at New York University Abu Dhabi called Women Riding in the Sand. The performance was directed by Carlos Diaz Leon from Santiago, Chile and based on the work of legendary Spanish playwright and poet Federico García Lorca.

The performance was truly amazing and something I have never seen before. The use of space, costumes, and set were so good as well as using innovative multimedia such as projections on the walls with words from Lorca’s poems. The actors did an amazing job too in telling the story and raising real life questions on love, gender, freedom, and identity through dialogue and songs. What I loved most was the variety seen in the cast, which represents well the NYUAD campus that has such an international community. I also got to take some pictures at the beautiful NYU campus in my Zara coat, Bebe dress, and Mario Bruni boots. I can’t wait to go back very soon for more exciting performances!
