New York

Quotes on New York:

“I love New York. You can pop out of the Underworld in Central Park, hail a taxi, head down Fifth Avenue with a giant hellhound loping behind you, and nobody even looks at you funny.” -Rick Riordan

“If London is a watercolor, New York is an oil painting.” -Peter Shaffer

“I look out the window and I see the lights and the skyline and the people on the street rushing around looking for action, love, and the world’s greatest chocolate chip cookie, and my heart does a little dance.” -Nora Ephron

“There is something in the New York air that makes sleep useless.” -Simone De Beauvoir

“New York blazes like a magnificent jewel in its fit setting of sea, and earth, and stars.” -Thomas Wolf

“New York was no mere city. It was instead an infinitely romantic notion, the mysterious nexus of all love and money and power, the shining and the perishable dream itself. To think of ‘living’ there was to reduce the miraculous to the mundane; one does not ‘live’ at Xanadu.” -Joan Didion

New York is an absolutely stunning city that I think will always cease to amaze me. It doesn’t take long to fall in love with a city like New York.

I have only visited New York once and since then, I have been wanting to go back. The winter in New York is quite bitter cold but then on the other hand, there is no better way then walking down the streets of New York with a warm cup of Starbucks in your hand, wrapped up in your favorite scarf. Staying at the Waldorf Astoria was amazing and when my best friend and I woke up when it was still dark(thank you jet lag) we watched the sun rise, exactly like i imagined it in my dreams. Broadway was a highlight, as well as the MoMa, Museum of Modern Art where hours could be spent in. Of course the shopping wasn’t that bad either, and lets not forget about the food!

The next time I visit new york I would love to go in the spring time, when the leaves in central park have changed color and fall down, which already sounds stunning. Spring time, when the temperature is perfect for a tourist wanting to wonder the streets of New York endlessly.

If there is one thing I learned about New York, it’s that there is a surprise hiding behind every corner. Whether it’s entering an old boutique, bumping into a young writer, tasting the best burger in the city or seeing a beautiful piece of graffiti. There is always something going on in New York. I believe that there is not better way to describe NYC than “the city that never sleeps”.
