I just returned from my 3 weeks in Spain! My friends and I went to a total of 3 different areas. First to Sorriba, then to Leon, which is more in the north, to Barcelona and Sitges, and lastly to Mallorca. Most people, including myself before this trip, would associate words like beach, sea, and city to Spain, but there is a whole other part of Spain that is completely different. For the first week we went to Sorriba, Leon where there was no sea or beaches. There were mountains, fields, and cold weather. It was overall a really packed week full of driving and exploring lots of different places. We went to the city Leon, which is the capital of the province of Leon. There we went to a market, had a great lunch, and toured the city for the day. We went to Leons gothic Cathedral, also called The House of Light. We also saw one of Gaudí’s first buildings which he designed. If you do not know who Gaudí is, he was a Spanish Catalan architect, best known for his Catalan Modernism and for his distinctive style. We also went hiking, visited a waterfall, and went swimming in our own private lake. The week was great because I was able to see a side of Spain which I had never known before.
