Macarons

“Eat every macaron as the last.” Macaron Aurelius

Every time I try to sneak in a chocolate or another sweet pastry in my mouth, I always have someone behind me saying “ Don’t eat that, it’s not good for you! “ or “ You never eat at the table and now you’re going to eat sweets instead of your food! “ It’s always a good idea to have a day where you can go out and eat your favorite foods, without anyone telling you not to eat it. I decided to go and treat myself with my favorite kind of sweet snack, Macarons!

These sweet flavorful meringue-based confections are very popular in Brussels because of their unique tastes. The biscuit part of the macaron is made from eggs, food coloring, sugar, almond powder, and ground almond. In between the two biscuits, the filling, is usually made up of jam, buttercream, or ganache. A small fact on macarons is that they were created in 791 but only became famous in 1792.

Pierre Marcolini is a famous chocolatier, a person that makes things from chocolate. He is not only known for his tasty chocolates, but also for his amazing macarons. What I love about them is that they come in all different kinds of colors that represent different flavors. Marcolini has many stores scattered in Europe but most of them are located in Belgium, his home country. It was at his store that I got the tastiest macarons in town. When I got home, the first thing I did was sit down in the Kitchen, open the macaron box, and take a bite out of one too many macarons. Even though my stomach began to hurt, I sat there and enjoyed the tasty sweets I love oh so much. All in all, macarons may not be everybody’s favorite snack but, it’s never a bad thing to try something new because you just may end up eating macarons none stop like I do.

Love,
