The 2014 Fifa World Cup is already greatly on the way and there has been lots of excitement and thrill. My siblings and I got the Brazuca as a gift. I decided to dedicate a blog post to the Fifa World Cup and it’s ball, and on what actually makes it so special.
Every four years the Fifa introduces a new official World Cup ball. The Brazuca is made by Adidas and is the official match ball of the 2014 FIFA World Cup. ‘Brazuca’ is a term for Brazilians national pride, for Brazilians living abroad and localy used to describe the Brazilian way of life. Many may say that it is just a ball, but this ball means so much more. This ball is the ball that will lead one country to winning the whole competition. This ball has to be perfect and if it has any flaws, it will be criticized to the esteem.
The official World Cup ball of 2010, the Jabulani received much criticism especially from goalkeepers. Italian keeper Buffon said, “The new model is absolutely inadequate and I think it’s shameful letting play such an important competition, where a lot of champions take part, with a ball like this”. Brazilian striker Robinho stated, “for sure the guy who designed this ball never played football. But there is nothing we can do; we have to play with it.”
The Brazuca has been in design and tested for over two years. Many teams like Bayern Munich and AC Milan, and top players such as Messi and Schweinsteiger played a part in the development of the ball.
Lets see which county is crowned winner at the end of this month with the Brazuca.
